Gary Oak, Pokemon Trainer, Researcher and Rival to Ash Ketchum.
Gary Oak is pictured here with his Eevee. In order to get his hair right, it's made out of foam. I made this costume and the Eevee with it.
Gary Oak is one of the coolest trainers around and best of all, he knows it. Who else starts off the series with a red convertible and a pack of six cheerleaders wherever he goes? He is the grandson of Professor Oak and has the intelligence to back that up. Even though Gary starts off the series obnoxious (understatement) and treating Ash like yesterday's news, he raises his Pokemon exceptionally well. Like his Eevee, who bonded so well he eventually evolves into an Umbreon at night. In battle, Gary's Eevee took down Ash's Pikachu, both working together like a team. Through the series, Gary has matured from his arrogant self to a more humble and respectable rival and then a future in Pokemon research like his grandfather.
In the game, Gary's even stronger. In Pokemon Red/Blue, he beats you to every gym, and beats out the Elite Four before you arrive. His Pokemon are always trained to a higher level than the players. Then there's the fact that he doesn't have a team of particular Pokemon, rather he has a mixed team of Pokemon of different abilities and attributes, so you can't just pick a team with a higher advantage so easily. In Pokemon Gold/Silver, you find out that he is the new gym leader for Viridian City when you come back to Kanto.
